Modelling through animation and simulation is where ICT can have enormous impact and teaching benefit. Even with the best available tools and good technique, it is difficult for students to see the desired processes much less understand the concepts and interdependencies. Australian schools should check Scootle or NDRL, for an increasing range of resources including animations and simulations.

Gaming is emerging as a potent way to involve students in making decisions based on science. Games for Science is an evolving example of this genre as is Quest Atlantis. The Games in Education Wikispaces is another great place to find out about games.
